Colin Mayrhofer Update August 2008
To my dear colleagues and friends of Claremont Masters :
I am enormously grateful for the visits which I received from so many of you. You turned my confinement for a disabling accident into a season of delightful encounters and conversations. In return I could and can only bore you with accounts of my rehabilitation.
I am still weak and subject to the specific problems faced by those with spinal cord injuries, and my right arm is still paralysed, but the muscles that enable one to sit and stand comfortably, those modest battlers of back, belly and legs, have made good progress, and even if walking is still far away, getting from one seat to another (wheelchair, car, bathrooom) without mechanical aids is within my reach, and that will greatly simplify my life to come.
On 20 August I leave Ward 11 of Shenton Park for the nearby Quad Centre, a transition to more independent living. I’d be very happy to give a guided tour to visitors, but I expect not to be much in my room; if you feel like calling, let me know first on 04 2270 2662. My best wishes to you all, and I look forward to hearing about your brilliant performances at the State Championships.
Colin Mayrhofer
