Rosemary O’Hallaron Honoured

As the in-house official for UWA Uniswim, I am an honourary member of the club, and as such I received an invitation to their Annual Presentation Dinner.

On arrival at the dinner on Saturday the 11th of May, I was asked by the President, Katy Powers, if I would present Rosemary O’Hallaron with Life Membership.

I was so pleased to be asked to do this as Rosemary (as President of Uniswim) recruited me originally to the Club. Rosemary and her sisters Carolyn McCleerey and Lynette Quinlivan were members of Claremont Masters when I first joined and all swam at Worlds.

When presentation time came, Katy read a eulogy prepared by Carolyn outlining Rosemary’s 12 years continuous service on the Uniswim committee including eight years as president.

Rosemary’s four children are a credit to any mother. Nick, the eldest is currently playing water polo in Spain. Louise, another excellent water polo player, is a medical student. Richard is a promising age swimmer and state junior water polo player, whilst the youngest, Caroline is a regular competitor for Swimmers With Disabilities.

How Rosemary manages to keep all these balls in the air and run her medical practice can be put down to her organising skills and unflappability.

CONGRATULATIONS ROSEMARY.

(Author’s note: Rosemary is my G.P. and has worked overtime these last few years to keep me in the water and on the pool deck but please don’t hold that against her)

  1. Congratulations Rosemary! It’s been fantastic to have you and Lynette back at Claremont… we all enjoyed watching you swim at Worlds. Hope we continue to see you… when you can fit it in!
